Crystal Palace: Fans are fuming at Patrick Van Aanholt following West Brom match
Many Crystal Palace fans are fuming with Patrick Van Aanholt following his performance in the Premier League match on Sunday against West Bromwich Albion.
The defender has been back into the side ever since he returned from injury and replaced emerging academy start Tyrick Mitchell. Mitchell was starting to become a fan favourite for his defensive work.
The 21-year old managed, on average 2.3 clearances and four tackles a game this term (WhoScored). He has made 24 tackles in total, which was the joint-fourth in the division before he suffered an injury, allowing Van Aanholt to kee his place in the starting XI.
Van Aanholt was part of the issue when the Baggies scored their goal in the game as he allowed Darnell Furlong to get in behind in the build-up. With Mitchell looking very solid defensively, it has added a lot of pressure onto Van Aanholt and more mistakes like this will only see the fan base fume at him more.
Palace went on to win the game in a comfortable fashion, but these fans were still upset with the Dutchman.
