Kaden Rodney has signed his first professional contract with Crystal Palace, the club have confirmed

Rodney looks to be a versatile player, having been deployed at centre-back, right-back, defensive midfield and central midfield.

He's made a total of 13 appearances for Palace's Under-18s, scoring two goals and providing two assists (via Transfermarkt).

Rodney, now 17, has been at the South London club since he was eight years old.

What did Rodney have to say?

He described putting pen to paper as a 'great moment' but stressed that 'now the hard work continues', a great attitude to have on the signing of his first professional deal.

Manager Rob Quinn said the deal was 'reward for his hard work and dedication during his time at the club'. He also believes Rodney is 'extremely talented' but 'humble'.

Rodney follows in the footsteps of the eight academy talents who inked professional deals back in July.

Palace chose to tie down many of the players who'd been instrumental in their second-place finish in the Under-18s Premier League.

Here's how supporters reacted to the club's announcement tweet.
