Crystal Palace: Fans discuss Max Meyer following Matt Woosnam tweet

Crystal Palace lost 1-0 to Burnley on Monday in a game that Roy Hodgson would not have wanted to go behind in given that he only had two attackers on the bench.
One name missing from the match day squad was Max Meyer and his absence has prompted The Athletic’s Matt Woosnam to say: “More evidence that he isn’t wanted. Odd that the feeling is he doesn’t have anything at all to contribute, even from the bench.”
With the German’s contract expiring in the summer, it feels like this will be the last season he has at the club unless something drastic happens. He is yet to feature in the Premier League this campaign and this is seemingly unfair in the eyes of some Palace supporters. One fan even called him ‘the forgotten man’.
However, it is easy to see why Hodgson doesn’t fancy him as in the creative midfielder’s 56 appearances for the South London Side, he has only picked up two goals and three assists (Transfermarkt).
Here is how Palace fans reacted to the tweet:
Four defenders on the bench against Burnley, but no Max Meyer.
More evidence that he isn't wanted. Odd that the feeling is he doesn't have anything at all to contribute, even from the bench.
A look at whether he could still offer *something* to #CPFChttps://t.co/uhcvkcsggk

Max Meyer was exiled from the team at Schalke in 2017, and then later essentially banned from the Schalke training grounds with a few months left in the season. This is a pattern with him. There’s got to be an attitude issue or something because we’ve seen it before.

Duno about other fans but I forget he is even with us. Don’t consider him a option

He’s not good enough at PL level. The games bi-pass Meyer and he looks a little lightweight for the physicality of the Premier League. Not a finisher or ball winner. Limited creative impact too . Needs a fresh start elsewhere but unlikely another club would match his wages ❤️💙

He will never be a hodgson type player, weather he is good enough to play in prem I don’t think we could judge hasn’t had a long run of games, sometimes impressed sometimes didnt, will be gone in summer unless new manager new start? But expect him to leave

The forgotten man. Remember how excited we were when Max signed in 2018, he now looks set to leave on a free next summer. https://t.co/MIdxhEpxDb

Really do feel sorry for him, Roy’s ruined his career, either needs a chance under a new manager or go to a better club where he’ll get game time https://t.co/8UaZYNzO78
