Crystal Palace: Fans react as Max Meyer leaves the club

Crystal Palace: Fans react as Max Meyer leaves the club - Crystal Palace News

Many Crystal Palace fans are reacting to the news that Max Meyer has left the club, despite him still having six months left on his deal at the club.

it was announced via Twitter that Meyer has left the club by mutual consent on Friday. The Eagles tweeted: ‘Everyone at Crystal Palace Football Club thanks Max for his efforts and wishes him the very best for the future.’

It has not been the easiest of spells for the German since he arrived at the club back in the summer of 2018 (Transfermarkt).  Despite featuring 56 times, he has only picked up two goals and three assists.

His situation at the club has got so bad that he is now unable to make the bench with Roy Hodgson fancying other players. This must be frustrating for the player, especially due to the fact that sides in the division can currently have nine substitutes on the bench, not seven.

Many fans seem very gutted with this news, as one said he was ‘ruined by Roy’, and it is hard to disagree as although he made over 50 appearances, 25 of these were cameo performances from the bench.

The fact the decision is mutual is the only good thing to come out of Meyer’s spell at the club. He can go and play some consistent football, whilst Palace clear some money off the wage bill.

Here is how Palace fans reacted to the news:

“Shame the transfer didn’t work. Just one of those things. Hope he gets back to playing regularly at another club. Unfortunate that this couldn’t get resolved in the summer.”
