Many Crystal Palace fans are loving an image posted on Twitter by academy player Jay Rich-Baghuelou in the build up to the clash against Leeds.
The image showed him training with the first team, and this suggests that he might get a place on the bench for the game on Monday night.
The 21-year-old used to play for non-league side Welling United (Crystal Palace), however, Palace scouts were impressed and gave him a trial at the Eagles. Clearly, he impressed as he joined their Academy in January 2020 and has been playing for the U23’s ever since. He has made ten appearances in Premier League 2, picking up one goal along the way (Transfermarkt).
Palace’s defence is one of the main reasons that the average age of the squad is quite old, with current centre-back pairing Scott Dann and Gary Cahill 33 and 35 respectively, (Transfermarkt), whilst Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins are 30 and 31, so Baghuelou could have the perfect opportunity to play in England’s top-flight soon if he performs well in the academy.
Here is what Palace fans said after seeing the picture:
“Got to be in the squad, wasn’t with the u23’s the other day”
“Omg first team lets gooooo”
“Get in king”
“Get inn! can’t wait till you are a regular starter!!”
