Crystal Palace confirmed on Thursday afternoon that star man Wilfried Zaha has been named in Ivory Coast’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

And, as to be expected, a number of Eagles fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

Zaha, who has missed just one Premier League game this season, has been selected in a 28-man squad despite refusing to join up with his country back in November and will therefore be unavailable for Patrick Vieira in the New Year.

Ivory Coast take on Equatorial Guinea on January 12, Sierra Leone on January 16 and Algeria on January 20 in the tournament's group stages. Should they progress and make it all the way to the final, Zaha wouldn’t be available until February.

The Eagles have four fixtures in January, with Zaha definitely out against rivals Brighton on January 14 due to his international commitments.

Palace fans react

Palace shared the news on their official Twitter page. This is what these supporters had to say in reply, with more than one ‘gutted’ and one labelling January as a possible 'rough' month.
