Crystal Palace: Fans fume at Cheikhou Kouyate following his performance vs Liverpool
Many Crystal Palace fans are fuming following the performance of Cheikhou Kouyate in the match against reigning Premier League Champions Liverpool.
He signed for the club as a central midfielder, but played at the back to cover injuries and has stuck ever since. He has been solid this season and even picked up a goal against Everton earlier in the campaign.
However, he looked tired against the Reds at Selhurst Park and in the first half the first goal the away side scored could arguably have been down to the poor defending of the Senegalese international. He has played three games in six days including Saturday’s defeat to the Reds – perhaps why he was withdrawn after an hour – but it’s fair to say fans don’t have much sympathy after such a heavy defeat.
The Palace faithful were slating the 30 year-old on Twitter, with one calling him ‘horrendous’. With the Christmas period bringing about the heavily congested period, Hodgson may need to think about resting Kouyate for their next fixture.
