Crystal Palace: James McArthur set to return from injury

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has returned from injury and will be in the squad for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion later today, Patrick Vieira has confirmed.
The Lowdown: Lengthy absence
McArthur has had his fair share of injury issues of late, suffering a groin injury back in June 2022, which was initially only meant to rule him out for the start of the season.
The Scot also had to deal with a hamstring problems during the last campaign, and he was limited to just 21 appearances in the Premier League as a result, but he now appears to have put all of his injury problems behind him…
The Latest: Back in contention
Palace boss Vieira has now confirmed that the central midfielder will be in the squad for the match against rivals Brighton & Hove Albion later today, saying: “Macca is in a really good place, he will be a part of the squad tomorrow,”
“He has been working hard. In every single training session with the team, he was feeling better. Physically, he is in a really good place.” (via The Athletic)
The Verdict: Great news
It is a real shame that the 35-year-old has picked up so many injuries of late, as when he gets a consistent run in the team, he is a very important player for the Eagles, once being hailed ‘undroppable’ by Dan Cook on the HLTCO podcast. (via This is Futbol)
The 32-time Scotland international has a wealth of experience in the Premier League, proving himself as a vital player over the course of a number of seasons, only missing one top flight game from the start of 2018/19 to the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
Over the past year, McArthur ranks in the 99th percentile for interceptions, and the 99th percentile for assists compared to other midfielders, highlighting his talent at both ends of the pitch, and so it is a real boost for Vieira that he is now back and available for selection.
