Crystal Palace are ‘hopeful’ of re-signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in January, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Lowdown: Sale to be sanctioned

The Premier League right-back swapped Selhurst Park for Old Trafford back in 2019, but reports have claimed that the Red Devils are open to letting him leave in the upcoming winter market.

Wolves have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old alongside the Eagles, though it appears that Patrick Vieira’s side are the club currently in pole position to secure his services.

The Latest: Palace leading the race

Taking to Twitter, Bailey revealed that Palace are positive about their chances of landing Wan-Bissaka for a second time. He wrote:

“Crystal Palace hopeful of beating Wolves to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.”

Expanding in his column for 90min, the reporter stated that the club are looking to sign their former star ‘initially on loan’, which means there could be a clause for a permanent deal included in any potential transfer.

The Verdict: Don’t do it?

Despite Wan-Bissaka undoubtedly being a fan favourite during his time in the capital, Palace should no longer pursue this deal or try to sign him in the New Year.

The Croydon-born ace only provided four assists in his previous spell and has made zero league starts and just one substitute appearance this season, meaning that he would likely need time to get up to speed before being fully match-fit.

Vieira needs to go after someone who is ready and raring to go, and it’s hard to imagine that Wan-Bissaka would be able to have the big impact that the side need heading into the second half of the campaign.
