Crystal Palace could complete the signing of Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Lowdown: Soumare linked with Palace move

The Eagles have made an encouraging start to the 2022/23 Premier League season, picking up a good win at home to Aston Villa last weekend and drawing away to Liverpool before giving Manchester City a run for their money too.

That's not to say that Patrick Vieira won't be eyeing up more transfer business, however, and Soumare is one player who has been linked with a move to SE25.

The 23-year-old struggled in his first season at Leicester and the Foxes are seemingly willing to let him move on before deadline day ends.

The Latest: Expert makes exciting claim

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Daily Express reporter Taylor predicted more Palace signings and said that Soumare could well join, as well as Lyon star Houssem Aouar:

"I think that’s one Palace will look at alongside Houssem Aouar. I don’t know how realistic it is, but from what I understand, Palace are going to go for two or three signings."

The Verdict: Ideal signing for Vieira

There is a slight risk element in Palace signing Soumare, given his struggles last season, but Vieira may feel he can use his own experience and turn him into a formidable midfielder at Selhurst Park.

The Frenchman has been called 'sensational' by Midlands journalist Josh Holland in the past and he would beef up the Eagles' option in the middle of the park, also acting as a long-term acquisition at just 23.

Despite his woes at Leicester, Soumare still managed to win an average of 1.4 aerial duels and one tackle per game in the league last season and his peak years are likely to be ahead of him.
