Crystal Palace picked up a 1-0 victory over Wolves in the Premier League yesterday, with Eberechi Eze’s goal separating the sides, and Roy Hodgson spoke about how impressed he has been with the young midfielder.
What Hodgson had to say about Eze
Speaking after the crucial victory against Wolves, Hodgson discussed the summer signing as he said: “I think he’s [Eze] a player who is going to improve all the time. We’re not improving his technical ability, and he’s got a good idea of what’s happening in the game and where the next pass should be
“Where he’s improving is getting used to playing with players of a similar ability, and getting used to the intensity of the Premier League. One of those things from our perspective is that work rate to get into position and close people down.
Palace look to have a star in their ranks
His goal on Saturday was his third in his debut campaign in the top flight (WhoScored) and the 22-year-old looks to be a great coup for the South London side.
His stats for this season show how much of an attacking threat he is as he has managed, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes, and 1.8 successful dribbles (WhoScored). He also has two assists alongside his three goals.
He has received a lot of praise, with Jamie Redknapp saying, “Eze has been so influential though I actually want to see more of him. (He’s) very impressive, he’s a star man. When he’s on the ball, he’s so exciting to watch.”
The other two goals Eze scored were superb, one being a free-kick and one being a fabulous solo run, and these performances emphasise that he is taking major strides like Hodgson has said.
If he can continue to be such a good creative threat, then Palace can have a successful season and with him being such a young age, he has the potential to grow into a Premier League star.
