Crystal Palace picked up a very important and comfortable victory against Sheffield United at Selhurst Park. However, both Christian Benteke and Jeffrey Schlupp got injured in the match and Roy Hodgson has provided an update on the duo.
Hodgson provides injury update
Matt Woosnam, journalist for The Athletic, spoke to Hodgson after the game. Woosnam tweeted: “Christian Benteke has a dead leg, Jeffrey Schlupp potentially has a pulled hamstring, says Roy Hodgson”
This is a big blow for Palace
The two men are key player for Palace and start the majority of games at the South London side. Benteke has four goal contributions in his last five games, which included an assist against the Blades. Meanwhile, Schlupp scored in the match against Sheffield United and also scored the vital equaliser a few weeks back against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Eagles are 14th in the league table, and their next match sees them play Arsenal, so Hodgson will be hoping that two of his key players will be able to return.
The club are somewhat lucky that these injuries have come after the congested December fixtures and at a time when their next game is in the FA Cup, where Hodgson was always very likely to rotate his squad.
