Crystal Palace have been name-checked with an interest in Gosport Borough youngster Finn Walsh-Smith.

The Lowdown: Young signings

The Eagles have brought in a number of young players in 2022, with Luke Plange and Malcolm Ebiowei arriving from Derby County.

Three more players have joined the under-21 ranks at Selhurst Park and Palace have recently taken Real Salt Lake goalkeepers Gavin Beavers and Fernando Delgado on trial. Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman now seem to have their eye on another potential star in the making in Walsh-Smith.

The Latest: Palace keen on Walsh-Smith

A report in the last 48 hours claimed that Bournemouth are leading the chase to sign Walsh-Smith, with Palace also declaring their interest.

Walsh-Smith and Gosport Borough teammate Dylan Holgate are believed to be on trial with the Cherries.

The Verdict: One to watch?

The 18-year-old has been labelled a towering central defender who is comfortable on the ball, so Palace may look to make their move if his trial on the south coast doesn’t work out.

Fulham and Nottingham Forest were also named in the report, showing that the teenager is a player in demand heading into 2023.

You’d expect that a move away from the non-league outfit could be just a matter of time, so it’ll be interesting to see if Palace look at a deal heading into January.
