# Crystal Palace: Nixon answers Cooper question

**Reliable reporter [Alan Nixon](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1404115462229827585) has insisted that current Swansea City manager Steve Cooper is not nailed on to take the vacant Crystal Palace job.**

### The Lowdown: Parish’s manager woes

Steve Parish is yet to have any concrete success when it comes to searching for Roy Hodgson’s long-term successor.

The Eagles were in talks with former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo and were thought to be [closing in on the Portuguese coach](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11706/12328000/nuno-espirito-santo-crystal-palace-close-to-appointing-former-wolves-boss-as-replacement-for-roy-hodgson).

However, a deal [fell through due to finances involved](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12328346/nuno-espirito-santo-crystal-palace-end-talks-with-former-wolves-boss-over-becoming-new-manager) in a possible move. Nuno is now thought to be in [discussions with Everton about replacing Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/12330698/nuno-espirito-santo-everton-close-to-appointing-former-wolves-boss-as-new-manager).

### The Latest: Nixon replies to Cooper links

### The Verdict: Time is running out

It appears, despite the favourite rumours, that Palace are not close to appointing Cooper as their new manager.

He appears to be a manager who Parish and the Eagles hierarchy like, though, with [Burnley boss Sean Dyche also back in contention for a move to London](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/next-crystal-palace-manager-steve-cooper-sean-dyche-nuno-espirito-santo-b939587.html) after Palace’s talks with Nuno came to an end.

Should Palace make their move for Cooper, they would have to put their hand in their pockets. [Reports](https://the72.co.uk/237470/steve-coopers-staggering-swansea-city-compensation-revealed-amid-crystal-palace-links/) have suggested Cooper would cost around £4.5m in compensation.

Palace could do with bringing in a new boss relatively swiftly, with the transfer window now open and an Eagles rebuild required but it appears that they still aren’t close to making a hire.
