# Crystal Palace: Fans react to transfer update on Patrick van Aanholt

**Crystal Palace are trying to tie Patrick van Aanholt down to a new contract, but with a deal not agreed yet, other sides have been alerted.**

According to [Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/ajax-keen-on-signing-crystal-palace-ace-van-aanholt/) Ajax are lining up a move for Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt ahead of the January window.

Van Aanholt does provide a lot for the South London side offensively, as the left-back has managed to score [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-van-aanholt/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/52119/verein/873) goals and pick up [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-van-aanholt/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/52119/verein/873) assists whilst at the club.

Last season, Tony Cascarino was full of praise for the Dutchman as he [said](https://talksport.com/topic/weekend-sports-breakfast/): “His season has just been pretty spectacular for me. Him and Gary Cahill have done brilliantly at Palace.”

However, fellow left-back Tyrick Mitchell is now starting to become a [fan favourite](https://readcrystalpalace.com/2020/10/30/love-this-kid-fans-react-to-tyrick-mitchell-documentary/) for his defensive prowess, so maybe the Dutchman’s possible departure wouldn’t be a disaster.

The 21-year old has managed on average 2.3 clearances and four tackles a game this term ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/389579/Show/Tyrick-Mitchell)). He has made [24](https://eurofootballrumours.com/top-50-best-tacklers-ranked-by-most-tackles-in-the-premier-league-season-2020-21-03-11-2020-21429/) tackles in total, which was the [joint-fourth](https://eurofootballrumours.com/top-50-best-tacklers-ranked-by-most-tackles-in-the-premier-league-season-2020-21-03-11-2020-21429/) most in the league before his [injury](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/389579/Show/Tyrick-Mitchell). This good form has left fans not too worried about van Aanholt’s potential exit.
