# Crystal Palace: Eagles scout Bamba Dieng

**[Crystal Palace](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/crystal-palace-news/) have scouted Marseille forward Bamba Dieng, according to [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11094743/Nottingham-Forest-target-Benficas-Ramos-Marseilles-Dieng-look-bolster-attack.html).**

### The Lowdown: Vieira should know him

Dieng, labelled as “[super](https://twitter.com/RBairner/status/1436785861710974977?s=20&t=MV9CQiEB7QdR6hfVQw9O4Q)” by journalist Robin Bairner, progressed through FC Diambars’ academy in Senegal, which was [co-founded by Patrick Vieira](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2022/07/30/palace-given-green-light-to-land-explosive-15m-machine/) in 2003, so the Palace boss will surely know of the forward.

Marseille [reportedly](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2022/07/30/palace-given-green-light-to-land-explosive-15m-machine/) want to cash in on the player this summer despite Dieng impressing during the 2021/22 campaign, contributing to [ten Ligue 1 goals in 25 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/822458).

It looks as if Palace could well be a potential destination for the forward, with a fresh update emerging.

### The Latest: Scouting mission

Palace were recently linked with Dieng, with [reports](https://www.90min.com/posts/premier-league-interest-grows-in-marseille-star-bamba-dieng) last week suggesting they are keen on his services amongst several other suitors.

[The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11094743/Nottingham-Forest-target-Benficas-Ramos-Marseilles-Dieng-look-bolster-attack.html) now report that Palace are one of a number of Premier League clubs who have indeed scouted the forward and see real potential in the Senegal international.

The Eagles are also thought to be chasing [Callum Hudson-Odoi](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/crystal-palace-news/crystal-palace-advance-callum-hudson-odoi-transfer-interest/), so it would be interesting to see the two young speedsters line up alongside each other if both deals get done.

### The Verdict: Bid next?

The logical next step for sporting director Dougie Freedman would be to make an offer for Dieng. He’s clearly a player who has impressed Palace officials, and he could be the ideal man to replace Christian Benteke.

Dieng can play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdaten/spieler/822458) across the front three, is just 22 years of age and already has Europa League and Europa Conference League [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/leistungsdaten/spieler/822458).

He’s also seen his [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bamba-dieng/marktwertverlauf/spieler/822458) valuation rise from £635,000 to a career-high £9m in the space of 12 months, and that could continue to increase at Selhurst Park.
