Crystal Palace were linked with young Championship winger Bright Osayi-Samuel over the course of the summer transfer window, but no transfer materialised.
However, the latest news around the player seems to suggest that he could still make a move in the January transfer window as he was dropped for QPR’s defeat to Barnsley last night.
Warbuton’s reasoning for dropping Osayi-Samuel
After dropping him from the squad, R’s manager Mark Warbuton said: “The contractual talks have been ongoing for a while now. He’s a great lad but his head has got to be in the right place for a game of football.
“I just felt tonight wasn’t right for him and for the team as well. It does him good to think about things. I just want Brighty to have a clear head and make the right decision.
“As far as I’m aware, absolutely, there’s hope with Brighty. He’s in a very good place at the club, he’s developing at the club and I hope very much he can see that’s the case.”
Should Palace look to make a move for the player in January?
The 22-year-old winger has already made 179 career appearances betweem QPR and his former club Blackpool, scoring 16 goals and recording 17 assists, (Transfermarkt).
Last season was certainly one of his best as he tallied five goals and eight assists whilst also averaging 1.2 shots, 2.9 successful dribbles and 1.2 key passes per game (WhoScored). He could be a good signing for the Eagles, who have emphasised that they are looking for young attacking talent following the signing of Osayi-Samuel’s former QPR team-mate Eberechi Eze this summer.
With him possibly being available on a free next summer, the Eagles could pick up a bright young talent without dipping into their transfer budget. As a result, a potential move for Osayi-Samuel would seem like a no-brainer for Roy Hodgson’s side.
