Crystal Palace are ready to make a move for Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

The Lowdown: Soumare profiled

The 23-year-old only made the move to the King Power Stadium last year from Lille in a deal worth £17m.

The holding midfielder has made 30 appearances for the Foxes but is yet to feature during the current campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

The Frenchman, who was labelled “a powerful and technical player” by Lille’s former CEO Marc Ingla, is under contract with Leicester until 2026, but it looks as if he could be on the move late in the summer transfer window.

The Latest: Palace linked with Soumare

Nixon shared a story for The Sun late on Saturday night (23:15) regarding Palace and Soumare.

He claimed that ‘Palace are ready to swoop’ for the Leicester midfielder and ‘may ask for a loan deal with a view to a permanent signing’.

However, the reporter did add that Soumare could be involved in a swap deal with Monaco for winger Sofiane Diop.

The Verdict: Milivojevic replacement?

Palace have already bolstered their holding midfield ranks this summer by signing Cheick Doucoure for £21m.

Patrick Vieira now has three defensive midfielders on the books at Selhurst Park, one of whom is Luka Milivojevic, who is out of contract next year.

The 31-year-old is yet to start a game this season, so perhaps the Eagles view Soumare - eight years his junior - as a potential long-term replacement for the Palace captain, so this could be one to watch over the coming days.
