Crystal Palace are looking to strengthen their squad and the latest reports suggest that winger Demarai Gray is on their radar.
The latest on Gray
According to The Daily Mail, the South London side have expressed an interest in the Leicester City attacker, and any deal for him could be quite cheap as his contract expires in the summer.
The Foxes want around £1.8 million for the Englishman, but it won’t be easy for Palace to acquire him as Bundesliga heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen are also keen.
This would be a great signing for Palace
Gray has only played once season as Brendan Rodgers has deemed him surplus to requirements, but he could still be a great transfer for the Eagles.
He is only 24 and his signing would help reduce to average age of an old Palace squad. Gray was also part of the amazing season which saw Leicester win the Premier League. This, and the fact that he has made 255 appearances in his career, highlights that the player has a lot of experience at a top level and that he could provide some great squad depth for the club.
The 24 year-old was massively praised by Rodgers when he was more in favour last season, with the Foxes manager saying: “He was excellent. He has been training very well. He is a big talent and he showed that when he came in.”
The only issue with the winger is the fact that in these appearances, he only has 25 goals and 24 assists, (Transfermarkt) but this should not deter Hodgson from wanting to sign him.
He is a Premier League winner available for a cheap price and with over ten Palace players’ contracts currently expiring in the summer, some new additions are definitely needed.
