It looks like Crystal Palace will look towards the Championship for new players, and a lot of the Eagles fan base are reacting to the news that they are keeping tabs on Sam Morsy.
They aren’t the only Premier league club interested as rivals Brighton are also keen on the player, per The Daily Star.
The Egyptian international is 28 years-old and plays in the centre of midfield. He has played 158 times for Wigan Athletic, scoring nine goals and picking up seven assists along the way, per Transfermarkt.
The fact that Brighton are linked as well as Palace highlights that the midfielder has the potential to make the step up, but Palace already have a lot of centre-midfielders at the club including Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate, James McCarthy, James McArthur and Jairo Riedewald, so this signing doesn’t make the most sense. They should instead look at positions like right-back, where they only have one recognised player in Joel Ward.
The fact Morsy is another linked centre-midfielder has frustrated many of the fan base as they would prefer other positions be targeted.
However supporters might want to see the club beat their rivals to the player so that they can have one up on Albion, and it will be interesting to see what happens if one team makes a bid.
Here is what fans said following the tweet:
Because another defensive midfielder is just what we need!
