Arsenal are thought to be keeping tabs on Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell, according to The Athletic.
And, as to be expected, the transfer links has had a number of Eagles fans talking on social media.
The Athletic ran a piece on Saturday, looking at the Gunners’ transfer plans for the summer.
It is thought a left-back to challenge Kieran Tierney is high up on their list, with Mitchell and Hibernian’s Josh Doig two names mentioned.
Arsenal have reportedly watched both players in action, however, Mitchell and Doig aren’t thought to be their first-choice target.
Mitchell is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2025 and ended the season as first-choice at left-back under Roy Hodgson, at the expense of Patrick van Aanholt. The 21-year-old is currently valued at £4.5m and has made 24 senior appearances for the club to date.
Who do you want as the next Palace manager?
Palace fans react
@CPFCtransfersHQ shared the Gunners’ interest in Mitchell on Twitter on Saturday lunchtime.
This is what these Palace supporters had to say in reply, with one describing the full-back as ‘priceless’.
“£50m or go away”
“Tyrick is priceless in my mind. Not sure he has the potential to play for the top 6 but is most definitely a prem player so why sell? It’s a free left back for the next 10 years. If he’s not gonna play at some higher level we never have a need to sell him”
“Ermmm nope go away Arsenal”
“And the lies go on”
“£60m should do it. Never like selling youngsters but this is what Cat 1 can do for us. They break into our first team, do well and get sold for tonnes to “bigger” clubs. Hopefully during that time we can improve as a team and It’s sustainability. Promote Hannam and give him a go”
