Crystal Palace have told numerous players who are out of contract at the end of the month that they’ll to wait for a new manager until their Selhurst Park futures are resolved.

That’s according to the BBC, cited by Inside Futbol, and, as to be expected, a number of Eagles fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

According to Transfermarkt, Palace have 13 first-team players on the books who are all out of contract on June 30.

Among those are Andros Townsend, Mamadou Sakho, Joel Ward and Jeffrey Schlupp, and it seems as if they could well be free agents by the time a new Palace boss is in place.

Steve Parish thought he had his man in Lucien Favre, with the latter verbally agreeing to take over from Roy Hodgson.

However, on Thursday evening, Favre informed Palace he no longer wants the job, putting Parish back to square one.

Palace fans react

@cpfc_xtra shared the news regarding the out of contract Palace players having to wait on Twitter.

These Eagles supports weren’t pleased, with one labelling the update ‘bonkers’.

"This is an absolute joke.. if any of those players we’d like to keep get a job offer they aren’t going to turn it down incase they end up clubless with no clubs coming in for them…"

"Letting all of the out of contract players walk makes a pretty rotten situation even worse. Bonkers if true!"

"Told ya, they’ll be off. Which puts us in a much worse situation"

"Millionaires or not; you can’t hold Players to ransom over poor management behind the scenes. These players have livelihoods, their own respective careers to carry on with, some may have good offers on the table. It’s absurd to stop players leaving if they want too, most will."
