The transfer speculation continues around Crystal Palace target Nathan Ferguson, and many fans of the South London side are reacting to the latest update.
According to Football Insider, Palace still remain favourites to sign the defender, who will be available on a free transfer after June 30th. However fellow Premier League side and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race, and are attempting to steal the player from under the Eagles’ noses.
If either were to get Ferguson on a free, there would be a small matter of compensation which they would have to pay, and this could be up to £4 million.
It could be a worry for Palace fans to see Spurs come into the race, as they are considered one of the biggest clubs in the country and they could be a bigger draw for the defender.
The player would be an astute signing for the Eagles, as he is young, so he would help lower the average age of the squad which is currently the second highest in the division. He is also versatile and has played across the back four, which is something that is great to have in a squad.
The only right-back at the club currently is Joel Ward and he is now 30, so Ferguson could be an ideal replacement.
Here is what fans think of the latest news, with some clearly now fearful that Palace will miss out on their target…
That’s why we need backup options which makes sense to why we’re linked with many RBs
