Crystal Palace are ‘interested’ in a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to journalist Santi Aouna.

The Lowdown: Aouar profiled

Aouar, who shares the same agency as Joachim Andersen, is primarily a central midfielder who can also play out wide or in an attacking midfield role.

The 24-year-old progressed through the Lyon academy and has made 216 appearances for the club but is now into the final 12 months of his contract.

It appeared as if the Frenchman was heading to Nottingham Forest, but that looks to be breaking down and a move to Selhurst Park could now be on the cards.

The Latest: Palace interest

Foot Mercato journalist Aouna provided an update regarding Aouar on Thursday evening.

He said that a move to Forest has indeed fallen through, adding that Palace are ‘interested’ and could ‘take advantage’ of the situation.

The Verdict: Busy few weeks…

It looks as if Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman could be extremely busy in the final weeks of the window, with Aouar potentially one of three to arrive.

Former right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a return and talks are underway, while the Eagles are also working on a move for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.

Bringing in all three would be an extremely exciting way to end the window and could give Palace the strength in depth to improve on their 12th-placed finish last season.
