In the last 24 hours, there has been a lot of news around Charlton striker Lyle Taylor, with some of these reports suggesting that Crystal Palace are interested in signing him, and a lot of the Eagles fan base are reacting to the news.
On Monday, Charlton manager Lee Bowyer came out and said three players were refusing to play for the club battling relegation when the Championship resumes on June 20th, and one of these was Taylor, who is their top goalscorer this season with 11 goals.
Do you think Palace should sign Lyle Taylor?
The forward is out of contract at the club in the summer, per Transfermarkt, and is refusing to play because he is worried he may pick up an injury which would stop him getting the ideal move he wants. The 30 year-old is linked to various clubs like Burnley, AFC Bournemouth and Rangers as well as Palace and many are conflicted as to whether they want to see him play at Selhurst Park next season.
It is easy to see why he is causing such debate, as Palace’s top goal scorer Jordan Ayew has eight goals, per Premier League, and even though Taylor is in the division below he could help support Ayew upfront if he made the move. A tally of eleven is still one that suggests he can be prolific with better players around him in a higher division and added to that, they would be taking a player from one of their local rivals which may give fans some satisfaction.
However it might be a risk to sign him as the player is now 30, whilst he has also never played in England’s top flight. Meanwhile, the Eagles already have the second oldest squad in the Premier League, per 101greatgoals, and they should possibly look for younger signings elsewhere.

Decent striker, I want to say He’s too old for Palace, but that has never stopped us before.
We also cannot afford to continue with zero depth in our forward ranks.
Ayew, Benteke & a loaned out Wickham are not enough by themselves to get through another season.
