Crystal Palace have signed one player this month in Jean-Phillipe Mateta and Roy Hodgson has shed some light on whether fans should expect some more transfers before the deadline on Monday.
The latest transfer update from Hodgson
Following the manager speaking in his press conference ahead of the match this weekend against Wolves, BBC Football Reporter Alex Howell reported: “Roy Hodgson also says that he doesn’t expect anymore transfer deals to happen. He is happy with the group and players he has. Although, if something came up the club would look at it.”
Door open for late twist
There are definitely places in the squad where the club could strengthen, like in the defence. It is a big issue for Roy Hodgson’s side – they have only kept three clean sheets in the league and have also conceded 36 goals (SofaScore). This is the second-worst in the division.
Despite no strong rumours suggesting another player will come in to possibly buff up the defence, it is positive to see that Palace are keeping an eye on any possible deals that do come available.
If one of their future targets becomes available in the next few days they will look to acquire the player, but the Eagles are not going to fall into the trap of panic spending late in the window – a clever and measured approach.
