Crystal Palace could firm up their long-standing interest in Ademola Lookman by making a bid this summer, according to The Athletic reporter Matt Woosnam.

Lookman suffered relegation from the Premier League last season as four goals in 35 appearances was not enough to stop Fulham making an immediate return to the Championship.

The 23-year-old is now back at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig after his season-long loan switch to Craven Cottage came to an end, but the London-born winger could leave Germany in favour of a return to his homeland.

Patrick Vieira, who was appointed as Roy Hodgson's successor earlier this month, is looking to add reinforcements to his Palace squad ahead of the new season getting underway next month.

It has been reported that Lookman, who also counts Charlton Athletic and Everton among his former clubs, is among a number of youthful stars on the Eagles' radar.

Lookman has been a wanted man at Selhurst Park for some time, it has been revealed.

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, Woosnam said: "Palace have had a long-standing interest in him.

"A lot of clubs are probably going to be interested in him but I think it would be a good move, certainly after losing Andros Townsend.

"It would be a good signing and I don't think he would be hugely expensive either, so it wouldn't eat up too much of the transfer budget."
