### The Lowdown: Lack of goals for Palace

[Patrick Vieira](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/patrick-vieira/)’s side have struggled to score on a regular basis so far this season, netting just [17](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) times in as many Premier League games.

That is the fewest of any of the top [14](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) teams in the division, with Wilfried Zaha [leading the way](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/162/Show/England-Crystal-Palace) for the Eagles with [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wilfried-zaha/leistungsdaten/spieler/145988) top-flight goals. Nixon shared a story for [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/20973398/palace-everton-danny-ings-vieira-transfer-aston-villa/) late on Saturday evening regarding Ings and Palace, claiming that Vieira would take him on loan or in a cut-price permanent deal.

The reporter added that the Eagles are ready to fight Everton in the race for the 30-year-old, who has been called a ‘[special](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-ings-gerrard-merson-23320501)‘ player by Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

### The Verdict: Makes sense?

Ings, who is sponsored by [Nike](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/profil/spieler/134294), has scored [four](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/91762/MatchStatistics/Danny-Ings) goals in his last three league starts but appears to have dropped down the pecking order under Unai Emery.

The 30-year-old’s [last start](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdaten/spieler/134294) came against Brighton two months ago prior to the break for the World Cup, and he has had to make do with a [place on the bench](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-ings/leistungsdaten/spieler/134294) in recent weeks.
