Ings has been in stunning form so far this campaign, scoring [five](https://www.transfermarkt.com/danny-ings/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/134294) goals in his first seven matches in the Premier League – that comes after he netted 22 in 38 last term. As a result, the Saints have marched up the table, winning [four](https://www.southamptonfc.com/results/2019-20) of their last five games in the league, drawing the other one.

The England international picked up an injury against Aston Villa, though, and during his pre-match press conference prior to the clash against Newcastle, Hasenhuttl confirmed that the issue is worse than he thought and as such, Ings will not be available this weekend.

> and that’s exactly why you can’t rely on ‘initial scans’ telling you the teue picture as the swelling can hide so much. A huge blow for the club but an opportunity for Adams, Walcott, Long or Obafemi to step up.
