# Leeds: Danny Mills reacts to Patrick Bamford update

**Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has been reacting to an update on Whites forward Patrick Bamford, as per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/patrick-bamford-leeds-pundit-issues-massive-verdict-after-medical-expert-update/).**

### The Lowdown: Only five starts…

The striker has endured an extremely frustrating 2021/22 campaign after scoring [17](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334/plus/0?saison=2020) Premier League goals last season. He has started just [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) times in the top flight this time around, with the last of those coming way back in September.

The 28-year-old has been missing with [hamstring, ankle and now foot problems](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334), with Marcelo Bielsa confirming after the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on Wednesday that the striker can’t run due to the pain in his foot, as relayed by [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/59750044).

Leeds’ treatment on the issue so far hasn’t worked, which has made it ‘impossible’ to put a timeframe on a return.

### The Latest: Mills reacts

Asked by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/patrick-bamford-leeds-pundit-issues-massive-verdict-after-medical-expert-update/) if he was concerned by Bamford’s continued absence, Mills – who also contributes for [talkSPORT](https://icdb.tv/stats/1628/Danny-Mills) – said:

> “Oh, definitely.

> “It appears now that they’re not quite sure what’s wrong with him. And if you don’t know what’s wrong, you can’t fix it.
>
> “I’d say that’s the biggest problem you could possibly have with an injury – that’s when it becomes a massive concern.”

### The Verdict: Not good

Bielsa has used [Daniel James](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-james/leistungsdaten/spieler/319301) as a centre-forward in recent weeks, with Leeds missing Bamford’s hold-up and link-up play as a number nine.

Rodrigo has been used in a [deeper](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo/leistungsdaten/spieler/131505) role, Tyler Roberts has only [nine goals in 106 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyler-roberts/leistungsdaten/spieler/296986) for the club and promising youngster Joe Gelhardt has been used just [twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gelhardt/leistungsdaten/spieler/503980) from the start.

The Whites are in a relegation battle and have [15](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) league games remaining, and hopefully their main man in attack can be back for a good percentage of those fixtures. However, at this moment in time, it looks unlikely, so it’s little wonder that Mills is hugely concerned over Bamford’s prolonged injury woes.
