# West Ham United: David Moyes provides update on Said Benrahma transfer

**[West Ham](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/west-ham/) fans are nervously anticipating the potential signing of Brentford winger [Said Benrahma](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/said-benrahma/), with reports this morning suggesting the deal could be off because of a failed medical.**

David Moyes recently had his press conference after this news was reported, and he was able to provide somewhat of an answer and a positive update on the transfer.

### What did Moyes say about Said Benrahma’s possible transfer to West Ham?

When asked if the winger had failed his medical, [Moyes said](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/benrahma-west-ham-medical-transfer-19116479): “No that’s not correct, he hasn’t failed his medical and we are still hopeful that something can be done by later today but I just can’t guarantee that at this moment in time. Part of his medical is still ongoing.

“Talking about medicals is private, it is something that has to be done so I am not going to discuss that. All I will say is that we still hope that we can get it done today. These things happen in football but we will soon find out.”

### How positive is this news on Said Benrahma?

The winger had a terrific campaign last season for Brentford as he scored 17 goals and also supplied nine assists, per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/137021/History/Sa%C3%AFd-Benrahma). He often proved a menace for opposition defences as he averaged 3.8 shots, 2.1 key passes and three successful dribbles per game.

West Ham’s wide options have been weakened by the [loan exit of Felipe Anderson](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-felipe-anderson-fc-porto-loan-said-benrahma-a4565006.html) to FC Porto and the permanent sale of academy prospect Grady [Diangana](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/grady-diangana/profil/spieler/342048) to West Brom The latter transfer left many Irons [fans](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/grady-diangana-west-brom-transfer-18882974) and some [players](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54034555) infuriated. As such, Benrahma would be an ideal addition to bring some quality to the wide attacking positions.

With all this taken into account, Moyes’ latest comments are a huge positive and the deal could still be completed, thus bringing a welcome end to a rollercoaster transfer saga.
