Our Manchester United supporting punters in this evening have Twitter refreshed every couple of seconds today following a tweet from notable journalist [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://twitter.com/DiMarzio/status/724602414255484929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw).

Renato Sanches is [reportedly](https://twitter.com/DiMarzio/status/724602414255484929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) close to agreeing a deal to move to Old Trafford from Portuguese giants Benfica over the course of the summer.

Despite being just 18-years of age, the midfielder has reportedly emerged as a [£40m](https://metro.co.uk/2016/04/03/manchester-united-edging-closer-to-renato-sanches-deal-after-telling-benfica-theyll-pay-up-to-40m-5792319/) target for the Red Devils after emerging as one of the continent’s major up and coming talents.

An imposing box-to-box midfielder, the recently capped Portugal star provides energy and drive, two traits painfully lacking in the United team at their worst this season.

Anthony Martial moved for a blockbuster fee with very little previous pedigree, though has gone onto become one of the team’s most important players.

Manchester City have also been [linked](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7101099/Man-United-will-have-to-see-off-threat-of-Man-City-if-they-want-to-land-Renato-Sanches.html) with making a move for the teenager, though it is [reported](https://twitter.com/DiMarzio/status/724602414255484929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to be the Red Devils who’ve seized the initiative.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty as to who will be in charge of the club next season, even potential manager Jose Mourinho is [said](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7083940/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Renato-Sanches-John-Stones-and-Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-bids-sanctioned-by-Jose-Mourinho.html) to be a big admirer of Sanches.

**Can Sanches have the same sort of impact as Martial? Can he become one of the best for years to come?**
