# Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold makes Ousmane Dembele transfer claim

**According to reliable [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/paratici-kulusevski-bentancur-dembele-tottenham-22922120) reporter Alasdair Gold, some Tottenham Hotspur transfer news has emerged involving Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs in for Dembele?

Separate reports Spain have come out of Spain in the last 24 hours concerning Spurs’ links to the 24-year-old, who could well be on his way out of the Camp Nou before 11pm tonight.

Paris-Saint Germain have [apparently been in contention](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1488091171016613893?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1488091171016613893%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.football-espana.net%2F2022%2F01%2F31%2Fparis-saint-germains-proposed-move-for-ousmane-dembele-understood-to-be-tough-to-realise) for his signature alongside the Lilywhites, with Partidazo de COPE reporter Helena Condis Edo claiming that Fabio Paratici had made a ‘[last-minute offer’](https://twitter.com/helenacondis/status/1487880162343628800?s=21) for Dembele.

[Info Blaugrana](https://thekickoffnews.wixsite.com/thekickoffnews/post/exclusiva-dembel%C3%A9-el-tottenham-iguala-la-oferta-de-20-m-del-united) even stated that Tottenham had entered a bidding war with Manchester United for the France international, but according to Gold, things aren’t quite as advanced as that.

### The Latest: Spurs ‘offered’ Dembele…

Writing for [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/paratici-kulusevski-bentancur-dembele-tottenham-22922120), the reliable Spurs source has instead claimed that Antonio Conte and the club have been ‘offered’ Dembele ‘in recent days’.

He cited that the winger’s injury record and sky-high salary are currently concerns for Spurs to take things further, but refused to rule out a U-turn ‘in the final hours’ of deadline day if they decide that the Barcelona player is worth pursuing.

### The Verdict: Take the chance?

Depending on the conditions of a transfer, namely whether Spurs can secure a cut-price deal and reduce his wages, Dembele could potentially be worth considering going by his plaudits.

Once costing Barcelona a record-breaking initial fee of [£97m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/25/barcelona-sign-ousmane-dembele-borussia-dortmund), the [27-cap attacker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/profil/spieler/288230) has drawn comparisons to [PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10271587/Joan-Laporta-insists-Ousmane-Dembele-BETTER-Kylian-Mbappe.html), with former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique calling him ‘[world class’.](https://www.instagram.com/p/CYGvIH-qYpA/?utm_source=ig_embed)

His market value is estimated at around £27m ([Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/profil/spieler/288230), but given that the clock is ticking down on deadline day and he is set to leave for free later this year, Barca could be forced to accept a much lesser fee.

It will be interesting to see if the Lilywhites take this chance to sign Dembele.
