# Liverpool: Reds in ‘real jeopardy’ after Diaz and Jota injuries

**Former [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) goalkeeper and [Sky Sports pundit](https://icdb.tv/stats/110/Paul-Robinson) Paul Robinson claims [Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/) are in ‘real jeopardy’ after the injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.**

### The Lowdown: Months out

As per [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3994040/2022/12/12/luis-diaz-injury-knee-surgery/), Diaz is expected to be sidelined for around three further months after having surgery on his knee, while Jota is not expected to return until [February](https://theathletic.com/3964232/2022/12/04/liverpool-dubai-diaz/) as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.

Liverpool’s domestic season resumes with a Carabao Cup tie away at Manchester City on Thursday night, while they also have many Premier League fixtures before a UEFA Champions League last-16 clash with holders Real Madrid.

### The Latest: In ‘real jeopardy’

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool-season-in-real-jeopardy-after-another-injury-blow-pundit/), Robinson has claimed that the Anfield outfit are in ‘real jeopardy’ after losing two of their key attackers at a ‘crucial’ time in the season:

*“It’s a massive blow. I think that puts their season in real jeopardy.*

*“They have a lot of games coming up in January and then they have the next round of the Champions League against Real Madrid. It is going to be a critical time in their season where they need to turn things around.*

*“To be missing two of your best forwards is a nightmare. They have other options but they are two of the best they have got.*

*“Jurgen Klopp probably cannot believe his luck this season. They have had so many injuries. I’m not sure he’s ever had a full squad to pick from.”*

### The Verdict: Tough to take

Losing both Diaz and Jota will be tough to take for Jurgen Klopp and his side, as they look to claw their way back into a Champions League place in the top-flight [table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables).

With three goals and two assists in eight appearances in the division so far this term, Diaz ranks as the Reds’ best-performing player ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool)), while Jota has shown a level of consistency that saw him score 15 goals in the Premier League last campaign, and nine in the 2020/21 season ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/235755/History/Diogo-Jota)).

Nonetheless, they will now be relying on the fitness of the likes of Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez, until the pair return from their respective injury setbacks.
