# It’s Difficult to see where Rodgers is going to get £8m from

**Rumours would have us believe that  Zenit St Petersberg will beat Liverpool to Althetic Bilboa defender Amorebieta. If this is to be true then first question I will add is this… With what money?**

Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen the lad play and from what I can see he looks a very tidy player indeed. But with the urgency at the moment focused more on forward players, I’m unsure were Rodgers is going to get the [8 million from](https://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/917002-liverpool-to-be-outbid-for-fernando-amorebieta-by-zenit-st-petersburg).

If Rodgers does decide to cash in on this player, then I think what you could be expect to get is a player in a very similar mold to Jamie Carragher. With the defender ominously entering into the final years of his playing days, Amorebieta would seem a good replacement. The defender possesses all the leadership qualities and hard-knuckle defensive attributes that you would want in a centre-back with the technical abilities to-boot. I also think Amorebieta’s commanding presence would  give Skrtel a good run for his money for his spot in the team.

For the price that is mentioned I do believe this deal is a steal. However at the age of 27 you would have to consider if this player falls into the category of a “quick fix” that John W Henry stated will not be tolerated at Liverpool fc. I think it’s all good having a transfer policy and the vision that Henry has makes complete sense, invest in the youth to make a brighter future. But sometime investing in a “quick fix” can make great strides on the present to make an even better future. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet as they say. Although I don’t think this has much context to this potential signing in particular, but it could have significant impact on Liverpool additions of the future.

*Think he would be a good addition? Have your say below.*
