# Wolves: Journalist reacts to ‘unfortunate’ Dion Sanderson injury

**[Wolverhampton Wanderers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) defender Dion Sanderson facing a spell on the sidelines is ‘unfortunate’, according to journalist [Liam Keen](https://twitter.com/LiamKeen_Star).**

### The Lowdown: Out for 7-8 weeks

The Old Gold centre-back swapped the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) for the Championship last summer when he joined Birmingham City on a season-long [loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dion-sanderson/transfers/spieler/495993), but he’s recently suffered a setback in his development which [Julen Lopetegui](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/julen-lopetegui/) will no doubt be gutted about.

The 6 foot 2 colossus has been [ruled out](https://twitter.com/wilfordwm/status/1628156862553104385) of action for seven to eight weeks after sustaining a back injury meaning that he won’t be able to feature for a large proportion of the remainder of the term.

### The Latest: Keen’s reaction

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/liamkeen_star/status/1628166737286860801?s=46&t=D_557M1EyO1dflyoHj_rMg), Keen reacted to the gutting update he’d heard regarding Sanderson. He simply wrote:

“Unfortunate injury news for Wolves loanee Dion Sanderson.”

### The Verdict: Huge blow

Sanderson has been excelling during his time at St. Andrews so it’ll come as a massive blow to both him and Birmingham to have stumbled across this roadblock heading into the latter stages of the season.

The Wednesfield-born talent was averaging 2.7 clearances and 1.7 aerial wins prior to his absence, highlighting the rock he’s become at the heart of the Blues backline ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/384128/Show/Dion-Sanderson)).

The 23-year-old also has one goal and one assist to his name so is clearly developing his game to become an impact player at both ends of the pitch ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dion-sanderson/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/495993)).

Sanderson has been [labelled](https://twitter.com/buntingfootball/status/1486058683217887238?s=46&t=4vkYj_hWJH73s8ys2cdPqQ) an ‘aggressive’ and ‘quality’ defender by journalist [Josh Bunting](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball), which is represented in his statistics, and he will no doubt be hoping to return to the field as quickly as possible.
