# Divided: 53% of polled Chelsea fans are on Maurizio Sarri’s side in January pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain

**Chelsea’s squad is filled with incredible quality, but Maurizio Sarri wants more. According to reports over the last couple of weeks, [including one from the Telegraph late last week](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/01/10/chelsea-talks-sign-gonzalo-higuain-loan-end-season/), the Blues are interested in forward Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently at AC Milan on loan from Juventus.**

Sarri is said to be the man pushing for the deal, with the boss familiar with Higuain from their time together at Napoli.

It’s sure to be a divisive move, given Higuain’s advanced age, and that’s been reflected by a recent fan survey.

We recently asked Chelsea fans whether their club should move for Higuain, and 53% of those polled are on the side of Sarri and would like to see him at Stamford Bridge. Conversely, 47% of those polled have indicated that Higuain isn’t the man for them.

It’s easy to see why fans can’t decide one way or the other. Higuain is a player with bags of ability, but at 31-years-old, it’s tough to see him sticking around for very long.

Likewise, the Argentine’s form hasn’t been great this season, and so there are more than a few red flags flying over this deal.

That said, Higuain is undeniably one of Europe’s best-known forwards, and he’s built up a reputation over the years for being a lethal goalscorer wherever he’s gone – and particularly under Sarri at Napoli.

Would he be able to score so frequently at Stamford Bridge? That’s to be determined, but Chelsea certainly need a lethal forward. Whether this one happens, though, remains to be seen.

**Thoughts?**
