# Liverpool: Reds battling Manchester United for Djordje Petrovic

**[Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-news/) are reportedly battling fierce rivals Manchester United to sign New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic this summer.**

### The Lowdown: Goalkeeper uncertainty

Liverpool are facing uncertainty in the goalkeeping department this summer.

There is [reportedly](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-liverpool-transfers-degea-29372038) speculation over the future of Caoimhin Kelleher, while Adrian is running out of contract.

If both were to leave, then it would [only](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/startseite/verein/31) leave [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jurgen-klopp/) with Alisson in terms of goalkeepers in his senior squad, and so a new number two would have to be signed.

### The Latest: Petrovic interest

As per [The Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-liverpool-transfers-degea-29372038), the Reds are considering a move for Petrovic this summer, but face competition from bitter rivals United for his signature.

The Serbia international has earned rave reviews for both club and country since moving to New England Revolution in the MLS in April.

### The Verdict: Get it done

Should both Kelleher and Adrian leave this summer, then it is imperative that the Anfield outfit get a deal for Petrovic done.

Hailed as ‘[absolutely incredible](https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/even-in-loss-petrovic-impresses-once-again-hes-been-absolutely-incredible)‘ by his team-mate DeJuan Jones, the 23-year-old has kept [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/djordje-petrovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/465555/plus/0?saison=&verein=626&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) clean sheets in 25 games in total over all competitions for his club, and MLS journalist Tom Bogert says that he is recognised as [one of the best](https://twitter.com/tombogert/status/1627321012873224192) goalkeepers in the competition.

Nonetheless, the six-foot-four colossus would follow in the footsteps of the likes of Arsenal’s Matt Turner in terms of ‘keepers moving from the MLS to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), and would be a welcome addition on Merseyside.
