[![Wenger](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Wenger1-500x336.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Wenger1.jpg?admin)There’s a lot of talk in the Football Transfer Tavern today about a small but possibly significant victory for Arsenal fans over long term Spanish rivals Barcelona.

This victory is the signing of 16-year old star in the making, Donyell Malen, from Ajax. This news has been circulating the pub today after reports from [the Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/26/arsenal-complete-shock-transfer-of-ajax-striker-donyell-malen-5313656/) and [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/455986/Done-Deal-signing-international-striker-Arsenal-gossip)are saying that Arsene Wenger has landed the young Dutch striker on a long term contract.

In a move that may not exactly fulfil the immediate desires of Gunners fans to have a world class striker leading the line next season, there is definitely reason to be positive, not least because they secured the youngster’s signature ahead of a host of other major clubs, including the Catalan outfit.

Some Arsenal punters by the fruity gave an opinion: “I like him a lot, only seem a few highlight videos but anything that comes out of Ajax academy turns to gold and I think we’ve done very well to get this one on the books so young.”
