# Everton: Fans react as Duncan Ferguson staying put

**Many Everton fans have expressed their satisfaction with Frank Lampard’s decision on the future of Duncan Ferguson.**

When he agreed to become the Toffees’ new boss, the 43-year-old had to make a call on whether he wanted the former Scotland striker to be part of his backroom team, and it was [confirmed on Monday](https://twitter.com/ALANMYERSMEDIA/status/1488156468931145731) that Ferguson would be staying put. Goalkeeping coach [Alan Kelly](https://twitter.com/ALANMYERSMEDIA/status/1488156468931145731) and assistant [Leighton Baines](https://twitter.com/ALANMYERSMEDIA/status/1488159051028611081) are also set to remain part of the setup.

Lampard will likely bring in fresh faces, with the likes of Paul Clement and Ashley Cole [reportedly](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/01/31/frank-lampard-culture-awaiting-everton-hard-work-no-agents-training/) lined up with coming on board at Goodison Park.

### Ferguson’s Everton history

Ferguson has been placed in temporary charge at Goodison Park after the sackings of both Marco Silva and Rafael Benitez. He steered Everton to [seven points from four games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/mitarbeiterhistorie/verein/29) in his first spell and oversaw a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the more recent of those caretaker stints.

The Scotsman previously spent 10 years of his playing career with the Blues, either side of a two-season stint at Newcastle United. He ranks [17th](https://www.worldfootball.net/alltime_goalgetter/eng-premier-league/tore/everton-fc/1/) in their list of all-time league goalscorers with 61 goals and is [revered](https://talksport.com/football/1025800/duncan-ferguson-pints-everton-fans-aston-villa-goodison-park/) by many Everton supporters.

Sky Sports’ [Alan Myers](https://twitter.com/ALANMYERSMEDIA/status/1488156468931145731) relayed the news on Ferguson and Kelly, and here’s what these Toffees supporters had to say.
