# Manchester United: Red Devils take ‘important’ Paulo Dybala step

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are reportedly making ‘important steps’ to sign free agent Paulo Dybala.**

### The Lowdown: Eriksen and Strakosha pending

The Red Devils have finally made their first summer signing under Erik ten Hag, with left-back [Tyrell Malacia](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62010793) penning a four-year deal at Old Trafford during the week.

United also seem to be closing in on two free agents in [Christian Eriksen](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jul/04/christian-eriksen-agrees-to-join-manchester-united) and [Thomas Strakosha](https://twitter.com/mrgeoffpeters/status/1545740393018494978) which would bolster the club’s midfield and goalkeeping ranks respectively, and it looks as if Dybala could be another to arrive in Manchester.

### The Latest: Dybala update

United recently [called](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-transfer-news-paulo-dybala-enquiry-made-erik-ten-hag/) Dybala’s agent, and [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/man-united-taking-important-steps-for-free-signing-ten-hags-side-can-be-concrete-option/) relayed a fresh update from [Il Mattino](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/calcio/calciomercato_inter_bremer_juventus_napoli_koulibaly_milan_ketelaere-6801262.html) regarding a potential move for the Argentine.

They claimed that Ten Hag’s side are ‘taking important steps’ to sign the attacker this summer, so a move may have developed further following an initial phone call.

### The Verdict: Get it done

Described as [‘world-class’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/robinson-liverpool-told-to-sign-phenomenal-firmino-replacement-as-stunning-raid-plotted/) and [‘phenomenal’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/robinson-liverpool-told-to-sign-phenomenal-firmino-replacement-as-stunning-raid-plotted/) by former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, Dybala is still just 28 years of age and can play anywhere in attack.

He has an impressive record of [144](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paulo-dybala/leistungsdaten/spieler/206050) goals and [64](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paulo-dybala/leistungsdaten/spieler/206050) assists in [403](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paulo-dybala/leistungsdaten/spieler/206050) club appearances, and with Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly wanting [out](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12644525/cristiano-ronaldo-manchester-united-legend-asks-to-leave-club-amid-concerns-over-trophies-and-transfers), Dybala could be a shrewd marquee addition at Old Trafford.

You’d expect that the Argentina international won’t be short of offers, though, so if United want to make him a potential third free agent arrival alongside Eriksen and Strakosha, they may need to be quick.

At least it looks as if they are being proactive in their attempts to lure Dybala to Manchester, judging by this report.
