22-year-old classy Dutchman would add even more guile to Wolves’ walk to Premier League promotion

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans must feel like they are dreaming this season, with the West Midlands side looking destined to run away with the Championship title following an excellent opening half to the campaign.

Nuno Santo’s men have blown away all in their path, and their twelve point cushion at the summit of the table appears insurmountable at this stage. The Black Country bunch have proven to be regulars at The Transfer Tavern in recent months, keen to share their thoughts on the future of their side under Santo and their Chinese owners, The Fosun Group. Our landlord managed to catch up with a table-full of fans enjoying a round of afternoon beers, gauging their thoughts and what Santo will get up to this month in the January transfer window. The consensus was that another central midfielder may be required to ensure they geto over the line this year and build for the Premier League, with another European name likely to be the latest import.

Fans explored potential players from Spain and Europe, before our landlord offered an insight into a player he had been keeping his eye on in Holland, VVV-Venlo man, Clint Leemans. The 22-year-old has excelled with the Eredivisie minnows since joining from boyhood club PSV Eindhoven in 2016 and is a regular for the Dutch U21 side. A box-to-box central midfielder, Leemans has taken to top-flight football with ease, and has already amassed a remarkable seven goals and four assists in his eighteen games this season in the league. An obvious future star in his homeland, Santo should swoop now before the likes of Ajax and PSV consider moves for the impressive youngster, who looks to possess all of the attributes required to become a Premier League regular.

Leemans is one of the most talented young midfielders in Holland, and should Santo snap him up this month, the player could go on to become a top Premier League star in the near future, especially with the experience of six months in the Championship under his belt.
