# European giant preparing to sell Liverpool and Spurs’ defensive target

![Bartra](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Bartra-500x368.jpg)Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing a boost they’ve received in the transfer market, with a defensive target potentially becoming available.

[Spanish outlet *Marca* state](https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2016/04/27/57209129ca4741ad0c8b4637.html) Barcelona are preparing to cash-in on 25-year-old defender Marc Bartra this summer, who is available for a minimal fee due to a clause in his contract.

Having failed to feature in more than 60% of Barcelona’s games this season, [Bartra is available for just €12m](https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2016/04/27/57209129ca4741ad0c8b4637.html) and Barcelona will extend his contract by one-year but will not remove that clause, opening the door for a Premier League move.

The Catalan giants need to sort out their finances this summer and that’s likely to mean a number of exits for fringe players, whilst it’s possible that some bigger names will also become available.

Young Bartra, who has a earned a wealth of experienced throughout the years in Catalonia, is [a target for both Spurs and Liverpool](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/barcelona-transfer-news-marc-bartra-set-for-exit-as-manchester-united-liverpool-and-spurs-eye-a7004696.html)this summer and Barcelona will not stand in the way of a departure.

After years as an understudy, Bartra will likely seek regular first-team action and may also push for a move to a Champions League club, which would put the north London outfit in the driving seat for his signature.
