### The Lowdown: Vital win for Everton

Frank Lampard’s side grabbed a vital 1-0 win in front of their home supporters Goodison Park, their [first](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) victory of the top-flight season.

Summer signing Neal Maupay is set to grab most of the headlines with his match-winning goal, but another Toffees player came in with some high praise for his efforts today.

### The Latest: Gray praised v West Ham

Taking to Twitter, [HLTCO](https://twitter.com/HLTCO/status/1571509289533214721) hailed Gray’s performance, calling his £2m move to Merseyside ‘ridiculous’ value for money.

They tweeted: *“Demarai Gray costing Everton less than £2m was such a solid piece of business. The lad is a thorn in the side of defenders time and time again. Ridiculous value for money.”*

### The Verdict: Bargain

Gray is turning out to be an absolute bargain for Everton, backed up by his latest impressive showing a Goodison Park.

The winger won three of his individual duels and also completed two successful dribbles, two key passes and four accurate long balls in the match ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-west-ham-united/MY)).

Gray also attempted a mammoth [11](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-west-ham-united/MY) crosses, far more than any other player on the pitch, and as HLTCO stated, he was a constant thorn in the side of West Ham’s defence all day long.

The 26-year-old and his team will now be looking forward to the international break and will look to put in similar performances when they return to club football in early October.
