[According to The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-southampton-scouts-check-newcastles-8116306), scouts representing both Everton and Southampton were sent abroad to monitor Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum on international duty.

The Toffees and Saints are both weighing up a move for the talented midfielder and are looking to gather as much information as possible before making a decision.

Holland travelled to Austria for a friendly which they won 2-0, with Wijnaldum netting the second goal.

Ronald Koeman’s move to Goodison Park has thrown a spanner in the works, because he is a huge admirer of Newcastle man. And as things stand, Saints are looking to bring him in and Everton will be desperate to draft him in for Koeman if he arrives.
