# Everton: Toffees ‘would love’ to sign Anthony Elanga

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) ‘would love’ to sign Manchester United winger [Anthony Elanga](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/anthony-elanga/) this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.**

### The Lowdown: Elanga struggling for game-time

With the Red Devils signing Antony for [£86m](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/12685793/antony-manchester-united-sign-brazil-winger-from-ajax-for-86m) in last summer’s transfer window, and Alejandro Garnacho bursting onto the scene, appearing in their last [eight](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/leistungsdaten/spieler/811779) matches in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), the Swede’s game-time has become increasingly limited of late.

The 20-year-old has been an unused substitute for the last [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-elanga/leistungsdaten/spieler/583189) top-flight games, failing to start in the league since the 2-1 win at Fulham in November. That has led to rumours that he could exit Old Trafford, with [Frank Lampard](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/frank-lampard/) said to have [discussed](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1609097150071279622?s=20&t=1GfguX07652GdidlmTeRFg) him as a potential option for Everton prior to his [sacking](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/12779347/frank-lampard-sacked-by-everton-after-defeat-at-west-ham-leaves-club-19th-in-premier-league-table) this afternoon.

### The Latest: Everton interested in Elanga

Romano was speaking to [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88106598-everton-would-love-to-sign-35m-star-at-goodison-park) about where the 20-year-old’s future may lie.

The Italian outlined: *“For Anthony Elanga, Everton are still interested.* *They would love to sign the player, as would Borussia Dortmund. So these two clubs are interested.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done?

Hailed as ‘[sensational](https://twitter.com/AlexCTurk/status/1521208769975357443?s=20&t=1GfguX07652GdidlmTeRFg)‘ by reporter Alex Turk, the speedster – who was [singled out by](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/anthony-elanga-man-utd-record-27532416) Bryan Robson as United’s fastest player – has shown some promising signs in a Red Devils shirt, weighing in with an [assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united_liverpool-fc/index/spielbericht/3837840) against bitter rivals Liverpool earlier this season. However, it is questionable whether he is the signing that Everton need right now.

The Toffees need players with a little bit more experience, given that the threat of relegation is currently looming, and they have been linked with other attackers who have a better recent history of weighing in with goals and assists.

One such player is [Tete](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11664257/Leicester-showing-strong-signing-Brazilian-winger-T-te-Shakhtar.html), who is bang in form at the moment, amassing [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tete/leistungsdaten/spieler/371256) goals and five assists in 19 appearances for Lyon this season, giving off every indication that he would be able to hit the ground running at Goodison Park.

That is a vast improvement on the [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-elanga/leistungsdaten/spieler/583189) assist totalled by Elanga this term, so while the Swedish youngster may be a good long-term option, Everton should wait until at least the end of the season before attempting to sign him.
