# Everton are preparing offer for a potential alternative to Richarlison

**The quality of Richarlison’s performances and discussion on how Marco Silva should utilise his talent has dominated Everton’s opening to the new campaign.**

Indeed, the Brazil international has been in electric form for the Toffees since his summer arrival from Watford, and it’s fair to say his presence has been something of a game-changer.

Without Richarlison Everton would be missing a dynamic, deadly and charismatic figurehead in attack, but there remain question marks over where he is at his most devastating.

A natural left-winger by trade, Silva has deployed Richarlison in a central role in recent weeks in a bid to experiment with different combinations in the final-third.

His compatriot Bernard has slotted into a left-wing role, but a recent report from Portuguese media outlet *[Ojogo](https://www.ojogo.pt/futebol/1a-liga/porto/noticias/interior/brahimi-continua-a-estar-no-centro-de-rumores-agora-tres-clubes-de-uma-vez-10162597.html)* suggests that Everton are interested in signing another player to challenge for a place on the left-wing, namely Yacine Brahimi (valued at £23.4 million by *[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yacine-brahimi/profil/spieler/60517)*).

The report claims that Everton are one of three Premier League clubs who are preparing offers for the FC Porto winger, but Silva may have a slight advantage over Newcastle and West Ham due to his past experience in Portuguese football.

Brahimi’s contract is due to expire in June 2019, and that fact will lend Marcel Brands the opportunity to complete a free transfer for his services as of January 1st.

With a desirable pre-contract agreement staring Everton in the face, it’s easy to understand why they are expressing an interest in a player who could inject flair, creativity and guile into the club.

A record of 44 goals and 36 assists in 182 appearances for Porto is one which strongly suggests he possesses the potency to become a resounding success at Goodison Park.

Brahimi’s preference to play on the left-wing would give Silva a fantastic option to exploit in Richarlison’s absence through injury or suspension, while, alternatively, his presence could convince the Portuguese manager to start Richarlison through the middle on a regular basis.

Either way it would be a nice selection dilemma for Silva to have and, considering he will be available on a free transfer in 2019, it’s a relatively risk-free deal which Everton should be pursuing with strong interest.
