# Everton: Beni Baningime may leave before transfer deadline

**Everton risk losing Beni Baningime before the transfer deadline as Derby County reportedly eye a late move on Deadline Day.**

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/derby-exclusive-rooney-makes-approach-to-sign-everton-22-yr-old/), former Goodison Park legend Wayne Rooney is lining up a move for the central midfield player before the deadline hits.

A source from the EFL Championship club has said that the manager has asked about his availability and is an admirer of the 22-year-old having played with him previously when he returned to the Merseyside club in his second spell.

### Baningime exit suits Everton

It is a real shame for Baningime that he has fallen so far down the pecking order for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Back in April 2017, David Unsworth was [claiming](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/beni-baningime-backed-become-evertons-12929011) that he was in the mould of N’Golo Kante, a Premier League winner with both Leicester City and Chelsea.

However, he has not played in a senior game for the Toffees since 2018, and has only made 12 senior appearances in all competitions in total ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/beni-baningime/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/399369/plus/0?saison=&verein=29&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

With the likes of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure signing for the Blues in the summer transfer window, the midfielder has seen his opportunities very limited, and so a move away to DCFC, where he will certainly get more game time, would definitely be a move that would suit all parties involved.
