# Everton: Darren Bent urges Blues to sign Allan Saint-Maximin

**According to [Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/what-a-player-exclusive-bent-drools-as-everton-reportedly-launch-rival-transfer-mission/) Darren Bent believes that Everton should be eyeing up Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin, but doesn’t think he will be an easily attainable target.**

The Frenchman arrived at Newcastle at the beginning of this season [for £16.2million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49211377) and has already made waves with the Magpies. Indeed, the [popular](https://www.geordiebootboys.com/opinion/in-allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-fans-have-a-cult-hero-in-the-making/) Saint-Maximin scored a crucial goal against Southampton in their most recent Premier League match to secure a 1-0 win and edge them further away from the relegation zone.

The winger is reportedly on Everton’s radar but will have to fight off Crystal Palace who are also interested in acquiring his services (via [the Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11122486/newcastle-everton-transfer-allan-saint-maximin/)).

“He’s shown right now what a player he is,” said Bent. “He’s one of those that can carry the ball from point A to point B – I can’t see Newcastle just letting him go that easy. Him and Almiron are vital to what Newcastle do.”

It will definitely be a tough challenge for the Toffees to prise the 23-year-old from Newcastle’s clutches, especially after only just arriving last summer. The Magpies have struggled this season on the attacking front so the loss of a playmaker like Saint-Maximin could be a huge blow for the club.

Everton would benefit hugely from the type of play the £22.5million-valued winger ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272642)) could bring to Goodison Park, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in fine goalscoring form right now with 13 goals (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers)).

The striker has said that his side are ‘aiming big’ with new manager Carlo Ancelotti at the hilt, and this summer window could see some serious business happen on Merseyside. Plenty of Everton’s attacking players have [come under fire](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/everton/everton-fans-appalled-as-shocking-stats-vs-chelsea-are-revealed/) recently, with Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott and Bernard not impressing some of the fanbase online. Indeed, the Frenchman in question averages 4.4 dribbles per (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/135891/Show/Allan-Saint-Maximin)) in the Premier League, far more than anyone in the Toffees’ squad (Seamus Coleman being the highest with [1.9](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Show/England-Everton)) and no one outside of Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison average more shots than him over the same period, with 1.7.
