# Everton: Fans debate club’s most exciting signing

**Plenty of Everton fans have taken part in a debate which looks into who they think has been the club’s most exciting signing.**

A football season without football is a relative unknown for fans of the beautiful game, but the recent pandemic has seen everything reach a standstill.

Engaging through various social media channels, fans have taken part in different debates, and a recent one started by [Liverpool Echo journalist Adam Jones](https://twitter.com/Adam_Jones94) has seen Toffees fans look back on some the club’s most significant signings.

Numerous names were mentioned including former players like Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry, as was James Beattie, with one supporter suggesting they thought the ex-Southampton man would be “[like Shearer](https://twitter.com/EFCMatt1/status/1253640974628270080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)” for the Toffees.

Everton fans will undoubtedly be excited ahead of this coming summer transfer window, where boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to bring his own targets into the club. The Toffees sit 12th in the Premier League standings at present, and the Italian will be expected to improve on that position when football returns.

Reacting to the Jones’ tweet, fans gave the following responses:

> A bit of a lunchtime question for you all – what is the most excited you’ve ever been for an Everton signing? Whether they lived up to it or not
>
> This man surely is up there? [pic.twitter.com/zAnx838Prc](https://t.co/zAnx838Prc)
